This is really striking and beautifully painted, love it!

Clever idea Liezel and nicely done. Lovely.

Thanks so much Katy and Jim, its great to try out new subjects.

A really beautiful painting and cleverly executed too.

Love the original setting of this and those fabulous colours. If you don’t mind me commenting, it’s just a tad difficult to spot the zebras. I know it’s supposed to be dark in the area where they are but slightly more definition of the white stripes of the zebras, would make your painting sing. Mind you my sight isn’t brilliant and I am getting on a bit so it could be just me. I really do think this is stunning Liezel.

Thanks so much Heather and Carole. Carole, my husband actually said exactly the same thing! They were quite hard to spot on my photo too and I thought it would add to the the "discovery experience" to keep them subtle, until you look closer at the painting. Your suggestion is for sure worth exploring too. Thanks for taking a look. (-:

The sky is brilliant and the idea of revealing the camouflaged zebras by their reflection is a great effect as is the limited palate and strong value contrast.

This is a lovely and intriguing image.

Thanks so much David and David. (-:

I have not done landscapes much, so what better way to give it a go with the August Calendar Challenge. I loved the dramatic sky colour and clouds in this image with the "upside down" zebra. The ripples in their reflections mirroring their stripy pattern. I subtly indicated the zebra in the silhouetted landscape using only their stripes.
