Thanks so much Romila, the higher angle was a challenge but it was lovely to see how beautiful this flower is from all angles. Thanks Carole, I am glad you like the composition, the shadow helped balance the painting. Thanks Tessa, it was a real treat indeed. A farmer in the area opened his field to visitors, and for a small donation in aid of a hospice we were allowed to walk around it and cut some flowers to bring home. It was wonderful to see these robust vibrant plants so up close.

I have seen so many wonderful sunflower paintings in the gallery I was inspired to paint them myself. Recently we visited a sunflower field and we where able to bring some flowers home. I liked the shadow they cast and all the tangly leaves and petals viewed from a higher angle.
