If this is a kind of doodling it’s very detailed and I love the detail and the story being told. I quite like the idea of a painting or picture evolving: less planned can be good. 👍🏻

Great picture story. Love the rat and dog paying attention to the deal

Agree with Tessa. amazing doodling!

Wonderful Lewis.

Always good Lewis, you get the expressions so well.

Superb doodling Lew, the detail is really good and it makes a superb story. When I look at a painting etc I like it to tell me a story this certain does I can spend a good while looking at it at and letting the story unfold. More please sir .

Oh I love it when you produce these highly detailed pieces Lewis, I pore over them admiring your skill and imagination, just brilliant.

You have a gift for amazing artwork, every picture tells a story, keep it going Lew.

Amazing skills Lewis.

Really good Lewis, I don’t know how you think these illustrations up. You’d be so good at illustrating something like ‘Oliver’.

The details are just fascinating. Who else would have included a propped up falling down house or a rag holding Mr Bellywell's shoe together?

Thank you very much for your comments, this was one of those 'start drawing and see what happens' efforts. These days often my mindset isn't right to plan and research a picture. Mostly they turn out ok, or parts of them at least, but sometimes don't get shown.

A superb Dickensian scene Lewis! Beautifully drawn and painted! Wonderful detail!

Makes you wonder what else he's got on that table!

Absolutely brilliant story telling with pictures Lew.

Oh, those expressions. Great work Lew. Love the scaffolding. (-:

Great scene, Lewis!

Love these colourful characters - made more interesting by the story it tells.

Yet another stonker Lew. Dickens, I'm sure, would love it.

Your “doodling” works out so well. There’s so much to take in and see in your picture and it tells its own story. Brilliant.

Brilliant! I hope you carry on evolving like this…..

Terrific characters and great detail in the background Lewis.

Wonderful Lewis.

Another goodie 🥰

Superb illustration, wonderful characters.

Sat down. What to draw? Thought I'd do a Dickensian style beggar...I like drawing in this genre. In mid drawing I decided to change things...not straightforward when using a dip-pen. So the pic sort of evolved, never the best way to make a picture. But the most fun when you enjoy messing about drawing. A3 sketchbook, watercolour, ink, dip-pen. A bit sketchy, another kind of doodling really. Text added in photoshop.

Self taught. Love drawing. Like to make pictures up, without using reference pics, often in cartoon style. I do other pictures where I do use reference. I'm knocking on a bit, born in 1940 in Greenwich, London. Retired, and loving it.
