Very dramatic subject, stands on its own,

Yes dramatic, and another superb illustration Lew.

Love the diagonal composition which gives your painting great dramatic effect, especially the directional brush strokes of the grasses and garment. Would be super with a dab of colour Lewis. This shows a versatility of your work that is really interesting.

I love the fact that it's dark and moody, it would make a great book cover for a Victorian melodrama 😀

I agree with the above comments, Lewis. Very dramatic and Victorian scene. Impressive!

Love the moody sky and the composition, looking up at the subject, very dramatic.

Thank you very much for your comments. This was done fairly quickly, most of the time spent on it was waiting for the sky to dry. I sloshed that on very quickly and let the watercolor do it's thing. It was a great temptation to fiddle with it, but I settled for what I got. It had been my intention to add a few color glazes but preferred the monochrome for this sketch.

Excellent Lewis. My first thought was " it's Me Heathcliff......." .

I had to look twice at your name Lewis as this isn't a typical Lewis drawing! It looks really good and as others have said it would make a great book cover.

Definitely a 'night' picture. Dark, dramatic and so well painted.

Oh, I can relate that to so many scenarios Lew, Wuthering Heights not the least. Nice work.

I thought Wuthering heights when I saw this Lewis, drama and suspense.

I've had several days when I haven't been able to do much...nothing awful, just life getting in the way. So it was nice to get to my art group yesterday. They had a set subject...' a night picture.' Being mostly keen on illustration, I did this...it would fit several 19th century books. Might make a proper painting of it later.
