Very good and your wobbly hand still works very well!

Superb raven - Edgar looks very sad…..I think I read it years ago but can’t really remember much. Excellent, Lewis.

I don’t think I have ever read the poem, but know of it of course. Your raven is very impressive Lew, seems you can turn your hand to drawing anything, wobbly or not!

Thank you Heather and Marjorie. I only remember the basics Marjorie. It’s a gothic poem about a student grieving for a lost love, he’s repeatedly visited by a raven that says one word each time…NEVERMORE. In the poem he refers to a bust of Pallas he has in his room. She is the goddess of reason, among other things. Oddly I seldom read Gothic literature but I like drawing it.

You have certainly caught Poe's likeness and embarrassed many of us into admitting we can't actually remember reading 'The Raven'.

Very skilfully drawn!

It’s every well produced Lewis. Beautiful in fact.

Beautifully done Lewis. Superb raven.

Superb drawing, dark and moody, brilliant.

This has got to be one of the best illustrative drawings I've seen Lewis. In my humble opinion it's brilliant.

So impressive and you have managed to portray his sinisterity. He was the master of the macabre. I remember having nightmares reading his prose when I was very young.

Personally Lew, I much prefer to see your hand drawn lettering, I don’t like some of the fonts and filters that distort the text in Photoshop. A very fine illustration from your talented hand…

Love the raven!

Superbly illustrated as always Lewis, I will have to read the poem.

Thanks to all for your valued comments.

Super illustration Lewis.

A delightful illustration Lewis

Beautifully drawn and thanks for explaining the theme poem.

Wobbly hand or not lewis, it adds to the whole feel of the drawing. I loved reading Poe when I was a youngster, I’m drawn to the macabre! 😂 Have you listened to Vincent Price or Christopher Lee read the Raven….chilling!

Great sketch Only this and nothing more

Excellent work as always Lewis

Pen and ink. Had a wobbly hand when drawing the text. (I usually add text in photoshop, but wanted it as part of the drawing here.)

Self taught. Love drawing. Like to make pictures up, without using reference pics, often in cartoon style. I do other pictures where I do use reference. I'm knocking on a bit, born in 1940 in Greenwich, London. Retired, and loving it.
