Yuk, my stomach is turning as I look at this...Spam, spam amd spam.

I love it Lew! The said greasy spoon tacked to the counter, the fly paper on the wall and the bloke’s plaster on his face (ugh)! Can’t beat some good spam. 😂

As always, great work and humour. Where's the 'spam fritters?' Those finger nails are cringeworthy :/

Oh 'eck! Bet he don't wash 'is 'ands or anything else for that matter! Superbly done Lew you manage every little detail. He does remind me of Michael Portillo! Only in looks that is 🤣

Thanks very much to all for your great feedback. CA, 'spam fritters' are a bit cordon bleu for this cafe. Glad you spotted the fingernails. Back in the dark ages, when I got my first job, I took my first girlfriend to a greasy spoon cafe (not quite as bad as this), it was all I could afford. She thought I was suave...back then girls knew quality when they saw it.

Brilliant!! 😂

I remember that comedy sketch very well, Lew. Lobster Thermidor with spam took some beating. LOL The detail is top drawer and where are H & S when you really need them? Great work! Bri

Great stuff. Thankfully, in this Health and Safety era, these places are a thing of the past Lew, but they existed beyond doubt. Chipped enamel mugs were also the order of the day as much as those flypapers. We hadn't got around to curry till I was about twenty, very traditional us with Oxo and Bovril on the menu..(-:

No thanks, I'm veggie!!! Reminds me of being at college...fried spam and tinned tomatoes...yuk!!!

Brilliantly observed Lew

Brilliant as usual Lewis.

I think spam is another for the “love it or hate it” award, I hate it myself...yuk! Your painting sums up the archetypal greasy spoon perfectly Lewis.

Brilliant as usual Lewis.

Obviously a spam fan but not sure I'd like to eat in his establishment, just look at those dirty finger nails :)

Having been in some of these cafes when I was younger, I can relate to this. Great drawing as usual Lewis

Been busy just lately, not much time for drawing or POL. I managed to get to my art group yesterday...the first time in a month. Didn't know what to do. I'd been watching an old Monty Python film, and came up with this. A bit hurried, I wanted to finish it at the club. A little watercolour, but mostly inktense and pen. It's in my Strathmore A4 buff sketchbook...I keep this for mock 'portraits'. He's waiting for your order.

Self taught. Love drawing. Like to make pictures up, without using reference pics, often in cartoon style. I do other pictures where I do use reference. I'm knocking on a bit, born in 1940 in Greenwich, London. Retired, and loving it.
