Alice (Coloured pencils)

Agree on the dark in places in the Alice wonderland. Great stuff Lewis. Works well the blue on other characters and Alice in pencil with a touch of blue in her eyes 👀 💙

I agree with you about fairy tales and this is a wonderful depiction of poor Alice

Excellent artwork Lew, yes the original fairytale was for adults and were very dark . In the main most of the modern versions have been altered so much they are almost different tales . Grimm by authors grim they were .

It's curious that we tend to gloss over the dark aspects of this story, which is a shame as they are probably why children like it so much. You have certainly caught that aspect of the tale, especially the Queen of Hearts.

This is super, Lewis. The author had a rare condition, which is now named after his book. It causes visual, time and hearing distortions. It is thought that some of the images in his book are based on his own visual distortions.

Excellent artwork Lewis and Alice is so well portrayed. Everybody else has commented on the dark aspects of Alice and other fairy tales, and you have captured if so well.

Brilliant Lewis as are the books.

So beautifully accomplished Lewis. Love her sad eyes.

Brilliant. I also think quite a few nursery rhymes also have dark moments that children never realised until reciting as parents to their own children

This is so cool!

Marvellous characters.

Very effective with Alice in monochrome and blue eyes compared to the blue characters.

Super work as always Lewis. You have a fantastic skill in how you are able to create and draw characters that are so different to each other.

I’ve never read this book, I don’t think I’ve even seen a film of it all the way through! Old Queenie looks a bit of a harridan, and I don’t think I would by a car from the gent on the right…..poor Alice. Terrific work lewis.

I've made several pictures from the Alice in Wonderland books, and will probably make more, they are fascinating stories. I think they are surreal and dark in places, much like the original versions of most fairy tales. This was done with Faber water soluble pencils and Polychromos pencils...black for Alice, dark indigo for the Queen and Hatter. A3 sketchbook.
