Beautiful, Kim. I love the colours and the loose style.

Superb style as always - I really like it.

I like the way you have portrayed the shadows here. A very pleasing result, thanks for the interesting description too.

This is great! Not too much detail and such saturated colours here and there..... full of vigor.Bravissimo !

Beautiful work .

I agree with the above comments, Kim: they said it all. I also like the vignette way of painting with lots of white paper. This leads the eye directly to the beautiful building. Perfectly painted.

A beautiful fresh free watercolour expertly done Kim.

I'm most grateful for your praise. It's not an easy facade to capture - not only because of the prevailing shade, but also because a big chunk of it is obscured by a palm tree! I've airbrushed that out of existence, but left parts sketchy to imply 'a presence'...

This is suberb, Kim. Your style is wonderful and suits this type of subject so well. I have sat and looked at your painting for quite some time delighting in the colours, paint handling and complexity. Tell me if you don't mind - how did you develop this style and was any artist or artists your inspiration to start with?

Beautiful...just the right amount of detail.

This is beautiful. I have a soft spot for architecture and wish I could portray it as well as this!

Stunning, Kim! Love the palette and the sunlight!

beautiful................

Agree with Jackie and everyone else, you use your lovely loose relaxed in buildings as well as portraits and it is definately transferrable, works a treat here, love how you have shown the big old wooden doors on this buildling

This is the facade of the mysterious Palazzo Salis in Chiavenna. It's basically north-facing (the 18th C. Swiss governor longed for home) so it only catches the sun for a few fleeting hours around the summer solstice (when this was painted last June). The rest of the year it moulders peacefully and gracefully in the penumbra... W&N on Fabriano Artistico, 40x30cm
