Stunning portrait Kim. The eyes are superb and the highlights of colour here and there are brilliant. I like the little paint run as well on the right hand side.

I think you are definitely a candidate to enter the Sky Portrait of the Year competition next year as this is such a class act as portraits go. So subtle and so beautifully sympathetic to your subject - and it is done in watercolour, which I note that the entrants to the said competition seem to shun (probably because it is so much more difficult than some of the other mediums). Glad to see you back posting on the gallery as your amazing work has been missed.

She is beautiful Kim her features say that the lady has a wonderful character.

I agree with Thea - it would be awesome to see you on the Sky Portrait of the year - I would even come and watch :-)

So would I, Joseph! I have been dying to see a pure watercolourist on the programme and Kim would be the perfect one.

I agree with Thea and Joseph. It would be fabulous and imagine all the pol spectators cheering you on and the producers telling us all to be quiet..!!

Hmmm ,do I detect a whiff of conspiracy? Thanks to you all!

Isn't she just beautiful Kim! The way you have painted the ageing eyes which have lost the brightness but not the twinkle is so wonderful that I get tiers in mine. I also always admire your use of watercolour, it is so accurate but at the same time so free. Looking at the shoulder where you have let the colour run from the face and the neck , wow! Exquisite!!

She's beautiful !

A beautiful piece, Kim - full of character, with eyes that speak of a wealth of life experiences. Superbly depicted!

I think they've said it all, beautiful, fabulous, full of character, stunning and I'd like to add it's got bags of class.

I can only agree with all that's been said - another beauty. Don't know any portraits better than yours - and watercolour is the perfect medium.

What an amazing face - your loose use of blue on the face had transformed your wonderful portrait

My thanks to you all once more. Costantina looks a trifle ruddy (partly the camera's fault) but she has spent all her life in the fields and at the hearth.

I have painted the lovely Costantina before. But since she's the proud owner of face deserving of an entire watercolour congress, I decided to try it again for the benefit of my watercolour students - whom I affectionately call "The Merry Wives of Win(d)sor and Newton". Here she is.
