Great light and shadows Ken.

Wonderful! I have no idea how you paint such fine rigging. Marvellous! The boats set against the bright sky and the shadows give this piece a dazzling vibrancy that almost makes me squint. Brian

Brian, I'll give away the secret. I draw the rigging in with a very sharp 2B pencil and a steel ruler.

I'll remember that one. Cheers!! *smile* Brian

You have captured the backlit sun effect brilliantly Ken, it also has a very restful feel about it.

Very attractive subject and painting.

Boats are not my thing normally, but this couldn’t go past without a comment on how real this painting feels. A sunny winter morning and you can feel your there. You can almost hear the clanking of the rigging on the masts it’s that atmospheric. Fantastic!

Stunning, love the subject and light is wonderful.

I love this Ken, the way you have captured the light and shadows is brilliant. I especially like how the middle yacht has a sunlit glow at the base. You are very talented.

As an affirmed boat lover (at least in art) this appeals mightily Ken. Lovely work with the shapes and shadows.

Backlit by a blazing sun on a cold but sunny winter morning, five yachts are "parked" onshore at the local sailing club. The owners bring them out of the water for winter storage and keep them securely cradled on wheeled trailers. It's the Firth of Forth in the background - there's no safe mooring out there! I used a limited palette for the sake of harmony and detailed the boats while keeping the sky and the ground shadows simple. I've been a bit inactive recently, building a new website (www.kenyoungart.com), but now that's up and running I hope to post more paintings here.
