Oil on Canvas, 50 x 60 cm. Studio painting from an on-site pastel study of a local Lake-Schiffenensee, completely frozen. The original pastel was completed in about 30 minutes at about - 8 C !! It was a challenge to convey the impression of icey conditions in a studio piece. For this reason I offset the cold, prdominantly ble colours of the ice and sky with warm earth coloursin the shore making a pleasing contrast to the lake.
