wonderful painting, john. You have found a good niche!!

Agree with Yu Ping Eddy...... don't think there's a painting was as much energy as this on here! Very well done.

These are brilliant!

i envy the guy with the red tie, he must be super fit. do you have faces to work from or do they come from your imagination, same question about the shapes of the figures the poses are realistic . Are you a jiver ?

To get the various classic dance poses I've simply trawled Google/Flika, etc, images and selected , and collected together appropriate figures - modifying dress , faces, and often colour to suit my overall painting mood - the dramatic dance poses are the hard part to simply make up from ones imagination. The amusing thing about these original 1950's images is that two featured dancers will often be assuming the most dramatic poses, and more often than not very stern faced , suited, bouncers and/or much more uptight and slightly shocked classic 50's couples will be looking on in disbelief at such naughty goings on ! - A possible subject for an amusing painting in itself. I'm afraid nowadays if I tried to assume that backward leaning pose displayed by the jiver in the red tie I'd put my back RIGHT OUT !

Lovely scene John and not surprised these sell, I would not think you have a great deal of competition

This colourful and action-packed painting is another of my imagined early Rock'n'Roll images. It is very similar to one I did a month ago "Jive'n and Rock'n " - though the individual figures and stage perspective are different. That one sold in one day on my own Website gallery, so I thought I'd do another one immediately and keep my fingers crossed ! 30 by 24 inches on 1.5 inch deep box canvas
