Lubecker Weihnachtsmarkt - Supping Gluhwein

Gluhwein puts my teeth on edge, but after the first two or three, I don't seem to mind anymore... Excellent painting, full of life and incident. I think Weihnachtsmarkt actually means "Christmas Market" but again, after a couple of snorts, who cares?

Yup, you're quite right "Christmas market" it is - Which is still fine by me for the title. Shows the potential pitfall though of taking yourpainting title from a foreign language souvenir mug ! Reminds one of the old Monty Python sketch with the foreign gent trying to ask for basic items in a shop, using a mischievously/dubiously mistranslating phrase book.

A painting based on a , very boozy, winter visit to the splendid North German "Hanseatic" city of Lubeck - "home of Marzipan" believe it or not - the gift shops certainly major on this sticky confection ! . The painting title means "Lubeck Winter Market" if the souvenir gluhwein mug I bought is any guide. A definite recommendation for a high calory winter visit ! 30 inches by 20 inches on canvasboard.
