Looks like quite a character. Another striking portrait Jenny. Hope your ribs are much better now.

Thank you Val. Much better by day and I have more range of movement but still very painful when I lie down. Lack of sleep taking a toll now. Thank you for asking

Excellent rendition using fascinating mediums Jenny. a face full of character drawn really really well, the limited pallette adding to the character

This bronze paper really works too for a slightly warmer feel. Excellent.

Thank you Ros and Gudrun. The paper is normal WHITE Bockingford watercolour paper, Gudrun, just as all the other papers I have tried for this technique are white. But somehow different papers react differently. There is no colour used in these ink paintings..........just white paper, black ink and bleach, any colours are formed as the bleach 'splits' the ink

Jenny. Thanks for your comments. Just found your gallery; Your subject matter seems to convey much more than a picture. Especially the angels! The technique is very interesting. Have you tried different inks or is it essential to use quink? I take it the milton you speak of is the sterilizing fluid? Nick

Thank you Nick, I saw ink and bleach work years ago by a very good artist who told me it ONLY worked with black quink - so I havent tried any others. Obviously it wouldn't work with a waterproof ink. I wish I had got more hints & tips from that artist because I havent been able to find any instructions for this technique so have had to make it up as I go along. I am only using Miltons because I didn't have any bleach in the house but did have miltons and it had the right sort of disgusting smell so I tried it. Yes it is the fluid for sterilising babies.

Quink and Miltons, approx 14" x 10", Bockingford paper. Interesting that the same black quink, same bleach, same working method yields such bronze tones on this paper, on some other papers the results have a distinct blue tinge.
