Little Egret

Comments

It’s still a beautiful painting Jenny even if the colours are not quite a vibrant on the gallery.

Nicely done, Jenny!!

Joyous egret Jenny

This is really good Jenny. The contrast of the egret against the foliage and flowers works so well. I really like how you’ve done the background.

It looks great to me, but it's frustrating when you can't get a decent upload.

This works so well Jenny. Love the pattern of the foliage and that lonesome egret among the flowers.

It's a lovely mixed media and great colour combination.

You have created an interesting picture Jenny.

Thanks very much for the lovely comments, I do appreciate them.

Thank you, Valerie!

Really nicely done Jenny. I do like the background and can appreciate that if the flowers were more prominent they would probably be more of the focus. The egret is charming. I have seen a few around this way in recent years, but now I think of it, not recently. Maybe a summer visitor? Beautiful birds anyhow.

Thanks, Tessa. I live a short walk from the River Mole and see these little birds there all year round. One of my favourite subjects now for paintings and linocuts - they’re so elegant.

Lovely Jenny 😍 👌

Thanks, Faye!

Such wonderful effects Jenny, very creative and attractive. Is that a little collage bottom right?

Thanks, Fiona! Yes, the orange bits are collage, didn’t think I’d be able to get the effect I wanted painting on top of the acrylic ink. The rest is painted, though.

Actually, it’s only the bird that’s painted, the background was done in stages with acrylic ink and clingfilm.

A5 mixed media. Very similar to one I did last year on Claybord. For this I’ve used an old watercolour painting coated with a couple of coats of white gesso. The colours, though, on this upload are all very dull compared to my original photo. I’ve tried reloading numerous times and it hasn’t made any difference - the flowers are actually a fairly vibrant orange.
