Yes it's fascinating, and this is great in B/W. I often do pen and ink, and then lay on thin washes of watercolour to paint them. About half the time I wish I hadn't, but it's too late then. However, it's great that computers allow us to convert back to grey scale to give us an idea of how it might have been. I'm sure you'd manage black and white easily, but don't go too far with it...we'd miss your beautiful colour images.

This is so stylish Jenny, there is something about a negative image.

Really gorgeous work Jenny lovely organic shapes.

A strong, bold design in greyscale. It reminds me of Art Deco in style.

I love the black and white too - this is a great image Jenny

Many thanks Lewis, Margaret, Fiona, Carole, Sarah and Maureen!

It certainly shows the contrast to its full extent Jenny, a superb design to start with so you couldn't go far wrong.

I love it Jenny, black and white paintings have got something special and this one is absolutely amazing

Thank you so much Alan and Satu for your encouraging comments. I must try painting this in black and white, but expect it will be difficult to achieve some of the subtleties of this greyscale version.

It will be easier Jenny because you are then controlling the tones. Like this very much.

Thanks John, I'll give it at go. Might be best with inks to get the real darks, but ink is so much harder to control than watercolour.

I have posted this before as the original coloured painting, but have become fascinated at how some designs convert to black and white. I love the more printed look of monochrome paintings. I expect it would be more difficult to paint in black and white, but might try one or two.
