From my schooldays by Jenny Harris

What lovely drawings Jenny, I can remember Thelwell cartoons, great to have found them.

These are lovely Jenny, how wonderful to have them to look back on.

How lovely to have found some childhood drawings, and very good they are too. Thelwell was a brilliant artist. (I wish I had some of mine...they would have been Desperate Dan and Dan Dare...top boys comics in my day.)

Extremely proficient Jenny

Lovely memories to come across, Jenny.

I had these books too - loved them! Very well done.

Thanks for the comments. (Yes, it’s lovely to have these to look back on - one of the benefits of being a hoarder!)

Great drawings, I wonder how many people learned to draw by copying comics and cartoons. One of my first was Andy Capp.

Memories … lovely

Thanks Paul and Heather! (I’ve been looking through my old Thelwell books this morning, the humour in them is brilliant and so well observed.)

As said Thelwell was very good and very funny ! And your sketches are excellent.

Thanks, Richard!

Just been having a clear out and came across a whole folder of drawings which I didn’t know I had from my schooldays. I’m ashamed to say I never sketch now, but was constantly drawing when I was younger. Thought I’d post these two as they made me smile and brought back memories - my life revolved around horses and these were copies of Thelwell cartoons. In fact, posting these prompted me to dig out my old Thelwell cartoon books - the drawings are brilliant, but it’s the captions that make them.
