The Call of the Wild

I really like this.

This is really good, like it lots.

Like it a lot Jenny

I envy people who have imagination like this.

Amazing colours Jenny. Are some elements of this in collage? If yes and it’s the textured areas, you’ve done it seamlessly and fits perfectly together.

Recognised instantly as yours Jenny, fantastic, particularly like your use of contrasting textures.

Thanks for the lovely comments, really appreciated. Fiona, yes, the textured bits are collage. I gessoed over an old painting and added a wash of Flame Orange acrylic ink intending it to be the background for something quite different, then thought an area in the top half resembled a castle, and it just evolved from there. The collage was cut from a previous play-around with acrylic inks and cling film. It’s often more fun when a painting isn’t planned but just takes shape as you go along.

A fine piece, the relative detail of the collage works so well with the stylised drawing.

Love the style of this and the lovely, warm colours Jenny.

Very creative design and such a great fantasy subject Jenny!

Very interesting how you have done this Jenny.

Many thanks, Lewis, Carole, Alan and Diane!

Super Jenny, I wouldn’t fancy walking up that path though, I’ve seen what happens in Lord of the Rings!

I love this composition and those textures are so striking. A really eye catching painting.

Thanks very much Frank and Diana! (Yes, it does look a bit hazardous, doesn’t it! Although I’m a great Lord of the Rings fan, this was mostly inspired by one of Roger Dean’s fantasy works.)

Hi Jenny, I’ve just tried to open your swan posting on the first page of the gallery and it won’t open. It comes up with a page stating, “sorry this page doesn’t seem to be complete”. All the other paintings around yours open okay, give it a try yourself, it might be worth deleting and re posting. Fiona

Hi Fiona, sorry, that was me, I decided to delete it and post another one instead - hoped I’d managed to do it before anyone saw it! Will, though, now post that one as well as you’ve mentioned it.

👍 I thought the site was being naughty! Commented on the one you replaced it with....fabulous!

Missed tho one earlier. Winding wall and wolf are super.

Should have said - missed this one ......

Thanks, Richard and Dennis!

Taking a break from painting at the moment - finally doing a much needed de-clutter of the whole house. Have, though, gone back to this painting which I originally posted a couple of years ago and made a small change that, in retrospect, it seemed to need.
