Walberswick from Blackshore, en plein air.
31 x 51cm. Painted with some urgency, with rain imminent, I felt inspired by this view. Much was simplified down, or out, in terms of the boat boardwalks (or whatever they're called) and so on. I love this kind of subject - weather, clouds, light, interesting shapes, history, mud, and plenty of 'detail' or aspects of the subjects to draw from as much as needed. Got it done just before rain hit (and lasted all day). I had the great company of local, esteemed watercolour artist Andrew Pitt for this one, followed by a nice cup of coffee in the cafe a few yards away as the rain poured down.
