Another beautiful painting

Wonderful colours and shapes. This is super.

great painting jackie, just love your work

Thank you for your kind words. My paintings are usually acrylic (Liquitex) on board. I start off with field sketches and maybe some photographs, then work up the sketches in the studio. I like getting real life experience of my subject so that I get a more personal image, rather than a producing a version of someone else's experience from a photo.

A lovely natural picture. Very nice indeed.

What a wonderful painting. Love all the colours in the pebbles and those sweet little birds.....ahhh.

An extraordinarily skilful rendering, even demonstrating the effectiveness of the birds' camouflage, and ending up I agree with a really beautiful result.

Excellent . Love the lighting and compostion. You can almost smell the sea and hear the waves without them being depicted.

I love the composition of this painting, the space is filled with the 2 elements birds and pebbles the colouring is so harmonious. How long did this take you ? are the pebbles painted in glazes ?

Like most of my paintings it took ages! It's difficult to say exactly how much time I spent because I usually have several paintings on the go at once and work on each intermittantly. I probably should keep a record of how many hours I spend on each painting, but I'm afraid I don't. I blocked in the pebbles quickly and then spent time modifying them by scumbling or glazing until I was happy with the arrangement of shapes and colours.

It may be nice to know how long you've spent on each picture. I certainly like to know, but be careful. I recently discovered that I'd finished a painting in less than half the time that my previous works had taken and I was a little confused. I wasn't sure why the picture didn't give me what I expected from it and I unrealistically resented it for that. I had clearly become over obsessed with the time when I should have kept just one eye on it and been happy with the quality of the finished painting

What does it matter how long it takes to produce such a lovely painting, well done.

Don't count the hours - time is just an invention anyway and it means nothing. Whether this took 5 hours or 5 months, it's just as beautiful a painting. And I identify with your point that it's a reflection of your own experience, not a version of someone else's.

this is lovely. An unusual composition and perspective which makes for a great painting !.

Beautiful colour, composition, mood, everything!
