Owls of Ancient Egypt by Jackie Garner
This image is an amalgamation of nine representations of owls from ancient Egyptian art. Obviously there was some variation due to whether the owls were painted or carved, but I was intrigued at how certain elements of the design stayed constant and some varied. The images were taken from throughtout Egypt and from a chronological spread of about a thousand years. Whilst the images are copies of existing art I wanted to create something new by combining them. This painting will be on show at the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour at the Mall Galleries in London 30 March -10 April 2011.
