‘Imagine’ - Life in Ukraine

What a wonderful painting, Spencer and so full of poignant meaning!

Interesting piece Spencer, I like the concept. Interestingly I’ve heard some churches sing this song but change the line to ‘ and one religion too’. Kind of defeats the point of the song in my opinion.

Thank you so much Andrew. Yes, you’re right! The change to ‘one religion too’, alters the whole theme of the song which is meant to be universal.

Excellent picture Spencer and very thoughtful message 👌

Very thought provoking Spencer.

A very meaningful picture inspired by a thought-provoking song.

There’s no mistaking the message here Spencer. Very strong image

A meaningful reminder of how fortunate we are, for the time being Spencer and so wonderfully adapted in your painting. As much as I try I couldn’t imagine what people suffer in their situation, it would always be a shadow of the real thing.

A terrific interpretation of the horror, Spencer.

Thank you so much for your kind comments Fiona and Jennifer.

This reminds me of Banksy, in all the ways that are good. Very strong concept and so well done!

John Lennon wrote ‘Imagine’ in 1971 and it was his best-selling single of his solo career. The lyrics encourage the listener to imagine a world of peace without materialism, without borders separating countries and without religion. Lennon said much of the songs lyrics and content came from his wife, Yoko Ono. My interpretation is to Imagine life for those living in Ukraine with the constant threat of bombs or missiles around them.
