The Crystal Skull

Very effective Spencer and I love your way of always experimenting. New ground is usually broken by artists like you.

Damien hurst is a very lucky artist. I doubt if van gogh could have got hold of all those diamonds.

Thank you for your great comment Michael. I try to follow my thought processes to find a different approach. I’m quite sure Van Gogh wouldn’t have got hold of diamonds but he might have got some tulip bulbs - in those days they were as valuable as gold, but not easy to do art with! Apparently Damien Hirst sold his diamond skull for 100 million dollars!

Your portfolio is so varied, another good one.

Keep exploring all the possibilities Spencer very effective art.

Extraordinary work, very original.

Wow that's a bling. I like the depth in the eye sockets. Agreed. Good to experiment 🙂

Thank you so much for your great comments Chris, Jacqueline and Faye.

Very effective Spencer and much cheaper than the Hirst one 👍

Wow. Love it that you are pushing boundaries Spencer.

Never know what to expect from you Spencer, and that's a very good thing.

This is super Spencer.

Your creativity knows no bounds, Spencer - a talking point, for sure!

Thank you so much Seok. I really appreciate your comment.

I love the way you always do something different Spencer and this is no exception.

This coming week: Monday 10th October Private View at Painters Hall, near St. Pauls and mansion House tube, Private view of works by the artists of the Painter Stainers Livery, 6-8pm. In a magnificent hall setting! Lucy Denning is the featured artist.

In 2007, Damien Hirst created a skull made in platinum and covered with 8601 diamonds. I couldn’t afford the diamonds but did my version in crystals. It links with my ‘Day of the Dead Skull’ piece. He also did another piece titled ‘For the love of God’, again using a skull as the main piece.

About the Artist
