That's looking great Carole, lovely colours and washes whatever else you decide I'm sure it will be a winner, looking forward to see what you come up with 😀

Yes, lovely washes, will be interested to see where you take it.

Sometimes the initial wash is so beautiful it's a shame to lose it Carole

Agree with other posters Carole, but a word of warning. Sometimes when painting random washes one ends up with accidental figures. You appear to have a negatively painted cock pheasant's head. Whether it may be worth exploiting this, but I look forward to seeing how you take it forward.

Splendid washes, Carole. This could be read as just clouds, or as a mountain range with a lake. There seems to be a section of white paper in the middle, did you have something in mind for that? (NONSENSE ALERT>>>>If it was my painting, I'd put a frost giant in there...but don't take any notice of me...I wouldn't have been able to paint the washes so well.) I'll be interested to see where you go with this...I'm sure it will be another stunner.

Thanks all for your kind words and suggestions - a cock pheasant (which I can see now:)). ). Lewis I'm no good at giants! But I did notice the white spaces as lakes in the middle of a kind of mountain range. I will ponder that thanks all.

One little bird/seagull top left is all that's needed for me. Lovely work.

I see cottages by a lake on the horizon in front of mountains. I would have to make the white bit into crepiscular rays from the sun......no idea how though. Love this idea

Thanks Jim and Carolyn, good idea both. Will have to get rid of the pheasant first ! :))

On the lower right, I see coastal cliffs and sea. The sky could build up into a storm. And we’ve certainly had plenty of those recently, albeit snow. It lovely, Carole, looking forward to see what you do.

They look lovely, just waiting for a subject to join the scene.

Great effect!

Thanks all for your help, I will have to get my thinking cap on 🤔

This works so well, Carole. I see mountains and lakes like jewels in the depressions, all at different heights. The central valley looks like its holding a ribbon lake, much like Crummock Water and Buttermere, with that isthmus of land separating the two. There's also low cloud, rather than mist, swirling around the tops, with small windows of clarity peeping through. It really is rather beautiful, although the chicken's head looks a bit strange. *LOL* I noticed this painting immediately. Brian

Ah ah yes the pheasant! I will exterminate Brian, thanks so much for your contribution much appreciated.

It works as is, but a small building or cluster of them 3rd from the left might help
