I like this, Fiona - it has a certain gentleness about it. Very much recognisable as your palette with that lovely splash of lemony yellow

Well, this is a beautiful start to your sketchbook, Fiona! Hope you get a lot of pleasure out of it :)

Well, that's a great start - very spontaneous, Fiona

Well it's a good start Fiona, but what happened to those other eight weeks? One a week should be a starting point, keep it at the ready and start filling it with colour sketches and pen and pencil drawings. Five minutes a day! Why not make some reed pens? I'm still using mine almost daily with your splendid Scottish reeds.

I like your first watercolour sketch, there is movement and energy , Fiona. You can manage one sketch a week, even more.

Great little spontaneous sketch Fiona. It is difficult to be disciplined as so much life gets in the way.

This is a super watercolour sketch, Fiona. Good luck with your plan to do one sketch a week :)

Love it Fiona especially the vibrancy of the lemon and green in the foreground it makes a real statement and the bridge for all its softness still gives a real solid chunky feeling to the whole thing, nice one.

A smashing one to start your sketch book off with Fiona.

This is a pretty little sketch, Fiona. A great start for your sketchbook. You’re not on your own, I promise myself all sorts, then other things get in the way.

Nice free, loose approach.

Doing a bit of catching up and this is very much one of yours Fiona.

Delicate work Fiona, like the vivid yellows and blue in the foreground.

Thank you very much everyone for your lovely comments, much appreciated. I do lots of other sketching in other books, I’m limiting myself to one a week in this one because it’s my bestest sketchbook and I only want to do watercolours in it. Alan I made lots of different sized reed pens when I sent you some, which I do use for sketching still. Thanks again!

Excellent start of our watercolour sketchbook. I am sure it will be filled with gems in no time, like this one.

Oh I see!, your best work... I don't have any decent stuff in my sketch books, just working scribbles. Should be rather nice when it's full... When! Where is my comment on yesterday's posting? Now on page 4. Yet another snow scene!

Yes Alan, my bestest scribbles, my other sketchbooks aren’t so pretty! In fact it’s a case of grab a page....some are upside down, in the middle and even on the covers.....and really mucky! It will be full, one day.....in fact I’ve done another already, before the rain came on, so there....lol. Thanks Gudrun, hope so!

Well done Fiona for getting started! Lovely fresh sketch. (I bought a posh sketchbook two years ago and still haven't used it, a bit wary of messing up those lovely clean pages!)

Lol.....I know what you mean Jenny, i think that's why it’s taken me so long to get some paint in it! Thanks very much.

Lovely gentle colours Fiona.

I treated myself to a watercolour sketch book for Christmas and promised to get out and do a sketch a week in this new shiny book. Well, it’s now almost the end of February and I’ve done the first one, I’m hopeless and very undisciplined, two amongst many faults in my character! Lol Will I manage to fill it by the end of the year.....who knows.
