Fiona this has great structure and super harmony of colour. You are going places with you art.

Lovely Fiona, especially in the cold weather,

Love it Fiona one of your best I think. Really nice.

John, you are very kind.....the usual place I go with my art is the dustbin...lol thank you very much for your feedback. David, thank you. I've been home since 17.00 and I'm still cold! Many thanks Dennis!

You know what I think about your pen and wash work Fiona, on this one I think there is so much character in that left hand tree love it some may say it unbalances the picture but I think those big right hand branches though lighter bring it back, as always I think your pen strokes are so alive. If you are going places that must mean you stopped and set off again ! :))) love it .

Lovely Fiona, knew it was yours.

Lovely tones, cold, winterish and brittle just like the weather you've sent over here. Lovely picture.

Beautiful Fiona, the palette is your signature.

Fabulous Fiona. Despite the weather.

Oh this is just beautiful, Fiona, all the better for the time limit would you say? Yes, it even hailed and snowed in north London this morning. On a practical front, what's your setup, I.e. do you use a little travel palette and pens and waterbrush? And what sketchbook has that nice rough paper? I'd frame this one :0)

Fiona as Marjorie says you can always tell your art, it stands out

This is a really lively sketch Fiona - I really like your restrained use of colour in this - it gives a cold wintry feel to it. Hope you warmed up quickly!

Love this Fiona ! And trees are MY nemesis !!

Very atmospheric Fiona, it makes me feel chilly just to look at it.

Really like this piece Fiona, particularly like the tones used and the overall composition .

Superb piece, Fiona. Just love the very vibrant linework, which really accentuates the piece.

Malcolm thank you, you are very kind. Sorry about the weather Willie, I think everyone has had a bit of the wintery stuff, thank you for your comment. Marjorie, Cesare and Sylvia....many thanks. I think I only used my usual three colours; ultra marine, burnt umber and raw sienna, it was far too cold and windy to faff about...lol

I don't know about beautiful Caroline but thank you for saying so!lol I'm not one for spending very much time on this kind of sketch, haven't got the patience for a start but I did want to get this done in a hurry...the hail started coming down and I had a fair sprint to the nearest cow shed! On a practical front, nothing very elaborate really a small watercolour box which is the one I always use at home anyway. As you know I only use a few colours which I have in full pans in the box. I fill a 500ml ordinary drinking water bottle, one of those consertina water pots, a mop brush and my favourite brush (which is all I use sometimes) A Rosemary and co 'Rodgers' brush....that's the only brush I used for this one. The sketch book is one I had made up by a company and it's Ochra rag paper.

Jenny, Christopher, Julie, Bob, Michael, Margaret, Graham and Seok....thank you all very much for your comments and support, very much appreciated.

I love your pen and wash paintings, Fiona. This one is super! x

Very well done Fiona and I love the bit of warmth in the palette

Amazing Fiona!

Rapid! Rapid! Don't know how you do it Fiona. Brilliant work.

Rapid or not. It is still a great sketch Fiona

Thanks once again Peter!

Pen & wash in sketch book. A very rapid sketch done this afternoon, rapid because the weather was Arctic! It started off okay with sunshine....which I managed to catch on one of the branches....... then rain, sleet, hail and SNOW!
