Multiple pencil lines

Multiple pencil lines

Like the different poses, you seem to be having fun doing these, Fiona.

Was this multi pencil technique your own idea or someone else's Fiona? I need to know who to blame..lol It's frustratingly difficult. I have a vague idea of how I want the finished result to look but it's not working out. Now you say one of your figures is a four but reassuringly say not all at once. Four?? Seriously though, your figures are so interesting to look at and those multiple lines add movement don't they? Blocks of colour next?

Lol....such a stupid idea.....it’s got to be mine hasn’t it! Well, it’s probably been done before but hasn’t everything....lol I don’t like copying from other works but couldn’t think of how to get the tormented looking figures that Vaughan seems to produce, so I had to loosely copy one of his. I wanted to still put a bit of me into it also. So I put a couple pencils together and started drawing, it looked a bit more individual .....I thought. Sorry Louise. Yes FOUR, I’m only showing off! I tried just holding them this time so it makes the pressure a little more flexible. It’s going to be much more difficult using brushes. Yep, blocks next!

Interesting technique Fiona! I particularly like the man in the rain :)

didn't the idea of using two pencils originate in one's school days - writing lines (as a punishment) took half the time if one used two pencils - one on top of the other. ???

I'm enjoying the challenge Fiona..a bit. lol

Thanks Margaret, very much. Mike, I don’t ever remember one having to do lines.....lol but it’s a good labour saving idea! You won’t sleep tonight Louise..........

The last time I used multi pencil technique was doing lines in detention after school ! Is that where you learnt the technique Fiona?

I have just seen that Mike remembers those days as well. !!

Wow Fiona this experiment has worked so well. I particularly like the lady with the bustle. I was reminded of school days in the dim and distant past. While studying music if you ran out of manuscript paper we use to try 5 pencils taped together. All was resolved when some clever person brought out a dip pen with 5 parallel points -it was brilliant and no doubt I have it buried somewhere in the chaos I call home.

Detention Tony? Not me, I was a good catholic girl........but I see that I missed out on a lot! Lol Carol, that’s ingenious a pen with five points! That’s your challenge then Carol, root out this pen and beat my four lined drawing! Lol

This is great, Fiona. They look so elegant and lively!

Lovely sketches with good movement Fiona.

You seem to be loving your sketching at the moment Fiona! A very novel idea taping the pencils together.

Interesting technique Dion, but it certainly works. Great poses.

Dennis, Margaret, Carole, Mia, Richard......thank you ever so much for your comments. Yes enjoying sketching and generally messing about at the moment......I’ll try and get down to some serious stuff soon....hopefully.

Sketchbook doodles. Louise, I went for four! The left figure is three, the centre figure is two and the right figure is four but not all pencils had contact at the same time in parts. The pencils are pastel and chinagraph. ......might have a go with pastel sticks, at some point.
