Brilliant pastel and a lovely story Fiona.

Wonderful story to this Fiona. I have no doubt that she realises just how lucky she is. Lovely pastel.

I do like the angle that you have drawn it, and the style, however Fiona, you have reduced me to tears with that heart-rendering rescue story. After a bit of fattening up she should make a decent chicken curry.

Thank you very much David and Peter for your comments. Alan, you're wicked! she wouldn't even make a decent pan of soup!

Well Fiona - Bubbles looks like a lively one -it's amazing what you can do with pastels. Sorry the E-mail was such a ramble -don't rush to reply when you could be spending time producing little gems like this.

I love the way you've captured the hens movement. I've tried pastels but they never look like this will have to give them another go sometime !!

I love him! What a cheeky looking hen. You've inspired me to have a go at a chicken photo I've got!

Many thanks Carol, she's a sweetie, very tame and with the added bonus of a fresh egg every day! There is an email on it's way! Thanks Linda, I was just having a play really, wanted to do something light hearted. I can't wait to see your hen Margaret....thank you.

What a wonderful story to go with Bubbles. Looks jaunty.

12x10 pastel on sugar paper. Just a bit of fun after yesterday's disaster. Bubbles is another member of my feathered menagerie, when we have the room we try and rescue a couple of ex-battery hens. Gives them a few more years of life and they can feel the grass under their feet and sky above them. She came by her name within the first few minutes of arriving , not use to drinking from a dish and rather by drip feed, she put her head right under the water and started blowing bubbles! She follows my husband everywhere, might have something to do with the treats he keeps in his pocket.
