Will do Pete, thanks!

Fiona, I think you are being far too hard on yourself. Some of it has worked very well, and is recognisably you, - e.g. the hair and, I think, the left side of the painting. It is still at a very early stage. I am sure it will turn out well - hope you enjoy doing it and I look forward to seeing it further forward.

As Peter says,"keep the faith "and only start to worry when people cross over the street when they see you coming.!! Ha Ha have fun and enjoy your art which we all enjoy looking at.

Keep on going, Fiona. It looks ok to me for the moment.

Not sure yet Fiona :) Hopefully will see on Tuesday!

It's the only way to get it right, Fiona. We tend to show our successes and pretend that the dodgy ones never existed. Kudos to you for braving it out. *smile* It's better than you seem to think btw, especially as you're still very much in the early stages. Bri

Just persevere Fiona as it is a really difficult task but things will fall into place. Sometimes it seems impossible to achieve what we set out to do but sheer determination always wins in the end. You always see things worse than the onlooker anyway. Keep at it as Peter suggestS.

Thanks Margaret, you have given me hope! Lol Tony people already cross the street when they see me coming! I am trying to enjoy it but the frustration takes over. Thank you for your comment. Bless you Mia, thank you x Me neither Louise, I don’t think it will look much different after Tuesday. This bit took me two hours! Lol Thank you very much Brian, you have given me much encouragement.

Thanks Carole, I hope to turn it alll around at Tuesdays class.....fingers crossed!

Keep going, Fiona! Portraits are so very difficult, especially self portraits which often end up looking rather intense!

Well Fiona I think you have made a very good start -I certainly couldn't have got this far and the left side hair, eye and cheek shading all look encouraging to me. (Thanks for newsy E-mail -will reply I promise).

Jenny, Carol thank you ladies, I’m hoping it will get easier.

The left side is nearly there Fiona. Just get rid of the blue lines and get the nose, lips and eyelids in and you won't feel so overwhelmed with it all. Keep at it, you're nearly there.

You will get there Fiona, and it will be a fine self- portrait.

Well I think you are very brave doing this Fiona, I wouldn't know where to start! I like Peter's suggestion of keeping the faith, sounds good to me!!! Knowing you, I think you will persevere with your selfie and I look forward to seeing more accomplished on Tuesday.

Keep going Fiona, great potential this! The hardest part of artwork!

LOVE it as it is Fiona - it has a clever abstract & fascinating feel

Sarah, Annick, Margaret, Carole, Lynne many thanks for your encouragement, I’ll see what happens tomorrow!

Based on my experience in my portrait painting classes, the intermediate stage always looks like the Bride of Chaki until you finish, whereupon it's look perfectly fine. It's just starting to take shape, Fiona, and I have absolute faith in your ability to bring it all together in the end!

Seok, thank you for your encouragement, I’m afraid this is no more. I scrubbed the whole lot off in class today and started again. It looks a little improved but I don’t think this will one will come to a conclusion either. I’m finding this task very difficult.

I nearly missed this fab thing as paintings whizz by on the gallery. Love this.

Gudrun thank you, it is no longer! I’m on number three try at the moment and I still can’t get it.

I too missed this somehow, It looks very promising, can't wait to see the finished painting .

Keith, thanks very much. You won’t see this one finished I’m afraid, I’ve scrubbed it off! Lol I’m on my third try and ....STILL CANNOT GET IT! Lol

Me and my big mouth suggested that I keep you posted ref my self portrait......good or bad I said.....well, it’s bad! Sorry if it’s scaring you, it does me every time I walk by it. Even the hens won’t come and keep me company at the moment with this stuck up on the easel. I have scraped most of it off actually, ready to start again on Tuesday, most of it is wrong either by size or positioning, I think. This by no means reflects the quality of the tutor, it’s all my fault! Lol
