An almost abstract but very atmospheric painting, Fiona. Great!

I like it! In fact I like it a lot Fiona. This is a superb loose style which is worth developing. The sky is gorgeous, but, for me the painting has more impact and a better proportion if it was cropped a bit above the distant blue.

I really like this Fiona - I agree with Alan and Mia - lovely loose style and colours.

As Mia said an almost abstract painting Fiona but I really like it. The colours work so well together.

It's heavenly, Fiona, a pleasure on the eye. The near abstract approach and the loose sky are just great! The colours aren't too shabby either. Bri

Mia thanks very much, I’m glad you think I injected some atmosphere. Wow, thanks Alan! I’ve been trying hard to loosen up with oils, I can do it with watercolour but oils...hopeless. Glad you like it, and yes it would work well cropped. I probably shouldn’t have gone portrait. Many thanks Margaret! Thanks Dennis! Are you settled, bet you’re cream crackered! Thank you very much Carol, lucky colour choice. Brian, thank you very much for your super comment.

What a different style to your usual Fiona. I love it - I agree with Alan about proportions and you yourself realised it too, the canvas may be just a little too long and narrow - I've been there!

Thank you very much Marjorie, yes I’m trying to get a more open style in oils, I’m fed up of being disappointed with the tighter outcomes I usually end up with. I’m concentrating on brushstrokes and colour.....with a few blurry edges. I’m choosing my subjects carefully at the moment until I get the hang of it, nothing too complicated! Lol

Brilliantly painted Fiona.

Great loose style which can be interpreted in many ways Fiona.

Beautiful semi-abstract painting, Fiona.

A great sky , nice loose painting, Fiona.

Excellent work Fiona - really catches the eye!

Lovely Fiona, really gorgeous tones and marks

You are very kind David, thank you. I like that magic word ‘loose’ Carole, thanks very much. Many thanks Cesare. Thank you very much Annick. Much appreciated Adrian, thank you. Thanks Georgina, I have a long road to catch you up! That’s my problem exactly Helen, too tight, which I am trying to remedy. Thank you.

Wow, Fiona, this is gorgeous!! I love it!

Works for me Fiona a lovely piece.

The sky is sublime and the highlights beautiful..Love your palette on this one!

Wonderful sky Fiona. Like the old colours peeping through, this has great energy!

Very attractive colours Fiona, a good abstract style. We had a bit of snow, all gone now as temperature jumped up to 9-10 deg! Cold coming back though, 🤔

Ooo this is lovely and such a great style, I really like it. Lovely textures and brush marks, and wonderful colour palette, I'd have it on my wall any day 😀

Great painting, Fiona. Its loose enough for me and as it happens I like a big sky. Love the freedom of it just a teeny bit too abstract for me though. keep on keeping on!

I love this, Fiona. It has an abstract feel about it, and what a wonderful sky.

Love the very lively brushwork, the subtle palette and the fabulous atmosphere. It's super, Fiona!

Like the abstract quality of this, your marks and colours, Fiona

Satu, Barry, Nandhini thank you very much for your feedback.....glad you like it Satu!

Thanks very much Tessa! Carole thanks very much. Yes much warmer here too the last couple of days, but wet as well. Oooo....thank you Linda, glad you like the colours, I’m trying some new mixes. Thanks Willie! I like big skies too, I am trying to avoid detail for the moment until I can get the looseness I want, then I’ll start adding a bit more detail until I’m happy.....that will be never then! Lol Ellen many thanks. Skies are always my favourite part of the painting, in which ever medium. Thank you very much Seok, very much appreciated. Maureen, glad you like it! Thank you Russell!

Just love this one Fiona! Such energy in those brush strokes, I can just imagine you painting away probably at speed with a glass in one hand and the music blaring (oh, that's me lol) the big sky looks so good and the colours are perfect!!

When you do the painting of your girls Louise, I can understand that you need to get into the mood, especially when your girls are partying. So a sloshing glass and blaring music is bound to give you inspiration! I dare not have too many glasses about when painting in oils, I’m bound to dip my brush in the wrong one! A jar of turps, a jar of white spirits and a gin and tonic, I could always label them...lol I enjoyed this one, thanks very much!

My life's more quiet radio 2 in the background honest but I have been known to confuse glasses..once that is..lol

Really interesting, and makes you wonder what's there.

Are you a pop master fan then Louise, everything stops at 10.30 in this house! Thank you Jen, I like the idea of it being a mystery.

This really is good, my sort of stuff, I love and embrace loose quick style of work, alla prima if you like for me is where your art meets your soul... I always try to be loose and lively don't often achieve it but it's where your truly immerse yourself.. I hope you got that sort of feeling.. This is great fiona 👍👌

There is something in what you say Alan, I thought it was me.......I can remembering putting the first couple of brush strokes on, then nothing until I put the brushes down. It doesn’t happen often enough, I am always more satisfied with the conclusion. I think at last, my oils are getting looser, and long may it continue. Thank you for taking the time to comment Alan.

A small 12”x10” oil on canvas. Apologies for lack of comments lately, I’ve been decorating, hope to have more input now I’ve finished! The first snow of the winter, all gone again now, even on Cairnsmore which isn’t all that visible in this painting.....lots of low misty cloud. Only a few colours, I wanted to use up some left over paint. The bit of texture is from the painting underneath, along with some of the original colour showing through in places.
