It works well and apparently we sould all work bigger.

Should we, says who? I've done one or two in this size since, and yes I much prefer it. I find it certainly helps me get better perspectives and proportions.

Lovely work Fiona and size is very important

This has a nice lost and found quality to it. I think the course is going well by the look of it!

I think I need to go to spec savers, when I saw the small pic on the gallery page, I thought the bowl of bananas was a gondola! Was surprised when this came up. I've always had trouble painting on a large scale, don't know why but this has worked out well

Strong, confident drawings Fiona!

Hi Fiona i mostly use the basic windows paint program to paint the picture but to blend or soften the colours i use adobe Photoshop 2 .i never bother with the other painting programs . Sorry for late reply thankyou Fiona for all of your comments on my paintings and happy new year.

This is very effective Fiona! Especially the coffee pot. I can tell that you enjoyed this!

Thanks everyone for your kind comments, much appreciated. Thank you Dennis, I thought I might have a tinkle on my husbands ipad and see what I could get up to. I've tried windows on my computer to do a painting and boy is it difficult! It looked nothing like yours I can tell you.Lol.

Looks great I love your new media Fiona.

Thank you Carole, I hope to post an oil sooner or later.....hopefully!

Hi Fiona people think painting on the computer is easier but its not its in many ways harder. I love windows paint i use the spray brush and it gives a pastel effect anyway well done for having a go . But i like your paintings as they are it would be interesting though to see what you do on the iPad good luck with it.

This is brilliant Fiona. Love the coffee pot. You're doing really well. By the way, I found 'heelan ' coo' in one of your 2011 portfolios. Great drawing. My late gran was from West Calder, and would comment on any hairy bearded guy, "Crivvens, he's like a heelan' coo!" She used to buy me the Broons annuals (which I still take, at the ripe old age of 53)! Hope your course is going well.

Thanks Ian! I've replied on Heelan Coo! The course is going okay thanks but it's only weekly for a term at a time. Some weeks it's a half day and other it's a full day. I prefer the full day, as I can get my teeth into the subject rather than leaving it half finished. As it's still life, you can never arrange the subjects exactly in the same place the following week and the light is different too......but it's all practice and experience and that's what I'm after really.

Splendid work, Fiona - love the varied lines and the subtle tones.

Thanks Seok!

Drawn with charcoal, chalk with the addtion of pastel here and there. First time I've worked on a support as large as this 24"X18" but found it easier than working smaller. Exercise in composition and tonal values.
