Love this with the colour background

Well this is an interesting piece indeed! It all balances nicely and I like the wiped off background as your base!

Thanks very much Ann! It’s a while since I did this Michael and looking at it again, I think I could have done more in the texture department. Thank you for your lovely comment. Thanks Al! As I’ve just said to Michael, I think I could have done more but the trouble is, the more you add, the more you lose sight of the brief. You add too much and it becomes overwhelmed and confusing. I graded the background going from dark to light, so it wasn’t too static....Davy thought it was good.....a pat on the head!

I think this looks lovely Fiona.

Like this one, Fiona - as Alan said, it balances nicely and the colours and textures work really well.

I love your warm coloured background and simplified shapes. You are inspiring me to get into shapes as a way of working out colour schemes. You certainly are wonderfully inventive.

Pleasing to the eye and it holds my interest. I think you did a good job here Fiona!

Denise, Jenny Diane Sandra.....many thanks ladies for your smashing comments. Sandra....go for it!

Thanks Dennis!

20” x 18” oil on canvas. Just one of the conclusions to the original pencil sketch I posted a while ago. Brief was to minimise the original idea and colour, and include different ideas on adding and removing paint and texture. There is wiping on, wiping off with turps, scratching out, using stencil etc.
