Well, I think this is lovely, evocative and loose, with you customary good palette. Nice to see another ....

I agree with the above, lovely palette

Very effective Fiona, the paper texture is well osed.

As usual, this is just delightful, Fiona. I'm not sure if you, or anyone else, will agree with me but I think this is so loose it verges on the abstract. I love it !

Funny you should mention abstract Lionel because the painting that Margaret ended up wih looked very abstract. I think because she hadn't painted wih the side of her brush before and her bushes had a squared off look to them.......I loved her version! Thank you for your lovely comment Lionel. I've been looking out for paintings....don't tell me you've put your paints in the garage again???!!!

Many thanks everyone for your kind remarks.

I just love this open page. Sketchbook work is so much more immediate than 'finished' paintings - and all the better for it. When we subsequently move on to easels, stretchers and all the other paraphenalia, we should cherish that instant of warmth, spontaneity and inspiration, and above all, remember what it was that attracted us to the scene in the first place. Thanks too for looking at my stuff Fiona.

Hi Fiona, i love this lovely loose watercolour of yours, love how you use just a few strokes and yet have a great work like this! and thanks so much for your lovely comment on my happy dog pet pastel portrait, i am really pleased you like the eyes on that dog, i was really pleased with how it turned out myself, one of those great moments when everything just comes together so well! xx

Thank you for taking the time to comment Kim and I agree with you about the use of the sketch book. I find myself using it more and more these days.

Hi Ros, thank you for your lovely comment and keep on doing your happy pet paintings.

Re the garage.......'fraid so! But I retrieved them yesterday. Not sure what I will do. There is so much super stuff on this web site.

I thought that may be the reason why you haven't posted anything just lately, I hope that will change now you've retrieved them. I know what you mean about the quality work on the site, and it's so diverse. It makes me feel that mine is rather inferior.

Margaret wanted to loosen up her painting style a little so we did this together, taken partly from a photo and partly ad lib......in fact, more ad lib than anything!! Done in the trusty sketch book with Old Holland watercolours; U. marine, L. red, B. umber, B. sienna R. sienna and a little Cad. Yellow.
