It's good - W & N Scholastic.... that's going back a bit! It should be OK provided you keep it out of direct sunlight; is that Cadmium Red I see (or Cadmium Red Hue...) = if it's Cad Red it should be fine; if Vermilion - well; fingers crossed!

A great set of portraits.

Another beautiful adition to your great gallery

Thank you everyone. Robert - I wish I knew exactly what colours I was using! I usually go for ultramarine, light red and raw sienna with touches of cad red and cerulean blue. I went for the colours in the tin that looked nearest to those once I had scraped the surface off the pans! The end result seems much warmer than usual and my shadow mix which is usually almost violet remained stubbornly grey! Still I like it for being different all the same.

I like it too Ellie, it's very well done!

Very well drawn and painted.

Ohhh- A lovely head study here - Love it!

I think your portrait painting is coming on in leaps and bounds. Every one you do is better than the one before (and they are all pretty good!). The is a super one - great composition and beautifully painted.

Thank you - you're very kind! Not sure that the next one will always be better mind. Like to experiment with things I'm not so good at! but this one is going to be a favourite I think.. My mum already has it on the wall!

Agree, lovely head study here Ellie, love how his fringe is just bit too long as he is only 12 that won't have bothered him, treasure that time Ellie, it will not be long before a fringe that long will drive him and so you, mad! If he is the oldest of your children you are still in the twilight period, and this a gorgeous painting of him, really well done

perhaps some of you will recognise this young man from a portrait I posted a while ago of him aged four. This is my son 8 years more up to date! I painted it while staying with my mum, much more quickly than I usually do and with smaller brushes as they were the only ones I could find that hadn't been used for oils! I hadn't brought my own paints so used a set of winsor and newton scholastic watercolours which she had bought before I was born... using different colours to the ones I am used to has given this a slightly different feel, and I have no idea how lightfast this will be... but it was fun.
