Hi Ellie. I was surprised to see your very comments against my posting 'Coffee Stop- Vancouver' so early this morning - until I realised that you are in Cyprus - 2hrs ahead of us - as I know well - I have an apartment in Paphos!! Only travelled through Lefkos once so I don't really know it but your pictures of the doors are really great so do keep on posting. I have a few paintings of Cyprus in my studio and will dig them out and post them sometime but it will probably be after Xmas now - will let you know. Keep painting.

Thank you both. My youngest goes to pre-school soon and I hope to get out and explore the old town a bit more and get some more sketches in the book! They take some hunting out, but there are amazing Ottoman doorways like this one on both the Turkish side and the Greek. Michael - i would love to see some of your Cyprus paintings! I have really struggled since we moved here in the summer to get my head (and my paintbrush) around the difference in landscape and light between here and Derbyshire. I like to paint with a limited palette, but have a feeling I'm going to have to change my basic colours to cope!

Love to see more pieces in this style of the buildings in which these wonderful doorways are set! How about it?

I can tell you like archtecture by looking at this doorway, and whilst our results are different (quantitatively, not qualitatively), we are obviously both seeking the same thing: simplification - something that can be achieved in many ways. Yours is lovely.
