I love this, Ellie. Beautifully painted - and so much to look at!

Agree with Ann, your eye is led really well around the painting and the colours are so gentle and could only be England

The sort of picture that makes you smile (well it does me) - good use of technique

Two lovely watercolours Ellie.......and I like your explanation of why it's a special place.

Thanks everyone! I've been painting for just over a year and I'm really loving it. I feel like I'm learning all the time and I very much appreciate your encouraging comments!

I agree this is a lovely nostalgic scene harking back to a time when life was much more easy going and the pace of life was much slower and people had time to smell the roses, or at least that is the impression of those days long gone that we seem to have now, this is a really lovely painting

another painting of my favourite place to walk in Derby. My children have always called this spot 'Grandpa's Bridge' because of his efforts to get it built when he was on the town council some time ago! A friend of mine had requested this particular view as a gift for her birthday, a little more complicated than I would usually choose to paint, but enjoyable to paint a familiar subject and allow myself a little bit of nostalgia for England!
