Another great portrait with your distinctive style Duncan. It is amazing that you can paint it in one hour. Thank you very much for your very kind comment on my gallery, I have checked Dylan Waldron's work and I love it!

I am really enjoying your portraits, Duncan, so keep posting them please. This is another great one - beautifully understated and sensitive.

love your portraits and the way they disapear, great

Your son must have been pleased to see this. Not much here - just sufficient to make it penetrating and sensitive. I wonder, are you the Duncan Thomas who kindly responded to my letter in Artist magazine?

Thanks for looking at my things Duncan - and for your Artist letter. As you'll have gathered, ultra-realism isn't my thing. I see so much of it nowadays and am always left cold. That might be because, as you point out, 'the subject fails to find an equal voice'. But I admit to finding even acknowledged masterpieces of the genre self-indulgent: if I want to meditate on the materialistic essence of a pomegranate, I'll cut it open myself!

Unison Pastel on Canson paper. This is a sketch of my son Edward, who agreed to sit for me whilst listening to his (concealed) MP3 player. It was a quick piece (about an hour) using Unison pastels, side-on for the most part, un-blended to give a looseness to the painting.
