I really like this portrait Duncan and the way you have rendered the pastels.

That's very kind, Petra. I'm new to Painters on-line, and have not had the opportunity to view and comment on other work. Now that I have seen your amazing still lifes, I feel that your comments are praise indeed!! Thankyou. ps I love that candle in the glass bowl - along with many others it seems.

This is a superb portrait. I love your play of light on the face, hair and top. The attitude of the body and head are so eloquent and you have done the impossible and produced a loose portrait in pastels - no mean feat. Great work.

Beautiful placing of your figure and I like the detail you've described and also what you've left out, super portrait.

I love the light in this and the freedom of it too. Well done!

Unison and Conte pastels on Canson paper (55x70). I have managed to give this lovely lady a rather bewildered look and fidgetty hands, but as an experiment with soft and hard pastels, and some serious blending, it gave me some pleasure.
