Love the way you have accomplished this Denise. So very nostalgic and great little characters. Haven’t heard of the envelope method but whatever method you used has been very effective.

Thank you Carole. I am doing the drawawsome course on artkula with Phil Davies and this is where I learnt the enveloping method and can't believe how well it works for me.

Beautifully drawn, Denise and a charming picture! I haven't heard of this method - sounds interesting. ( I seem to remember I had a pixie hood like that in the 1940s!)

Pixie hoods, balaclavas, wellies, darned socks and pants with patches (we had snake belts and baseball boots too). Oh, the memories you invoke Denise. Lovely.

Graphite on cartridge paper. Practising my learning and using the enveloping method to get the proportions right using a photo taken in the 1940's. I could have put more tone in the faces but didn't have the confidence to do so as thought I would spoil them!

I got interested in painting several years ago and am slowly getting to grips with sketching and watercolour, still so much to learn but thoroughly enjoying the experience. I think I enjoy line and wash the best right now but this will likely change, like the weather as I continue to try new ways.
