I started this a while ago , messed it up using acrylic paint for the wave tops so put it aside , tried to rescue it today with some success, I’m quite happy with some part but the wave in front of the tug is overworked I think . Decided to post it anyway hopefully someone will see my mistake and not repeat it themselves.

You do these sea-going paintings so well, Paul and this is no exception - that water look scarily rough - well done!

That sea makes me feel seasick Paul so you have certainly achieved a rough sea successfully. All you need to do is take the trough away on the left and flatten it out and ‘Bob’s your uncle’. My hand is itching to have a go at it Paul. The boat is great.

Great painting Paul.

Great seascape Paul, that water looks seriously rough.

Anne , Carole, Stephen and Andrew thank you for your kind comments . Yes it very rough on the bar , so bad that the deep troughs and following waves have totally swamped even large boats . In some places they are likened to a full storm surge , and a specialist pilot is needed to take the boats in and out of the harbour areas .

I like this one a lot Paul, especially with the dark tones in the water and the bottom of the boat. If you get deep troughs and large waves that swamp even large boats then the left hand water isn't too overworked.

Watercolour of a tug crossing the bar , we know that sailors are fond of a bar and lime to frequent then , only for a lemonade or cup of tea of course, but this bar isn’t a popular one with sailors. It’s where the incoming rollers fro the deep waters start to hit shallower waters and the outgoing tide etc , this causes the water to be quite rough . In some areas it extremely dangerous due to the cross ties etc .
