I can see the influence Denis great simplification and style, I painted this scene nearly two years ago when visiting Wareham with my friend Steve Hall who is widely recognised for his knowledge of Wessons work having written about him and demonstrated in his style. I think your painting is much better than my effort, a lovely place to paint, I wish I had been able to do it with the great man himself.

You have really caught that Wesson feel with this lovely watercolour Dennis, must have been a great experience.

Great example of loose watercolour painting Dennis. Well done, fine job.

It looks as if you enjoyed painting this. I always envy those can enjoy colour and use if freely and produce a good result. Well done!

Barry, I've known Steve for many years - in some ways he's more like Wesson than Wesson! Another brilliant painter you might check out (or perhaps you already have) is Andrew Pitt. His style is certainly not as loose as Edward Wesson's but he developed his style in part, by spending time with Edward Wesson whilst a young man. He's good both as an artist and as an instructor.

Wonderful loose style, Denis.

Beautiful! Wesson's influence is unmistakable. Good tonal range with subject matter simplified! Love it.

I painted this picture whilst on a weeks painting holiday under instruction by the late, great Ted Wesson. I kept all the paintings I did that week and I thought that this was one of the best I did.

Keen on art at school and would have dearly liked a job with an art connection- I had hoped to get into architecture, but it did not happen.…
