I believe that whatever I produce ‘artwise’ I should have enjoyed - I paint to please myself! (Though if someone compliments me on what I have done, I feel chuffed). This is different for me. It started out as an abstract but I felt compelled to make the picture look like something half recognisable. I liked painting it and I may continue using more wilder colours in bigger swathes, and abandon reality - make it look like ‘summat and nowt’ as they say in Yorkshire.
