Hehe know what you mean Louise, funny how everyone who has had a go at this challenge so far decides to have another go at it pretty quick! This looks great, love the limited palette, I am going to have to try this as well, been waiting to see how others have got on with it!

Oops! Just realised I called you Louise Debs!

Having met Debs, I can vouch for the fact that this is a pretty good likeness. Debs, I love the way you have restrained from filling every part in with colour - gives such a casual and immediate look that is most attractive. The hair is particularly well done, too. Great stuff and I promise I will have a go at a self-portrait when my back improves - at the moment I am struggling to sit down long enough to make a few comments on gallery paintings. I have done a self-portrait before but I'll see if I can improve on it within the 20 min time limit (dream on I think!)..

I'd been looking out for this Debs and you didn't disappoint! Very well done and isn't it nice to get an idea of who we all are (well, a vague idea from my portraits) LOL . You skin tones are good and the hair is really well done. The problem that I'm finding and I suspect that you will as well is that having tried one, I feel that I really must try again and see if I can improve. For me, this results in a different frozen faced person every time and I think I'll have to go more abstract and forget all about trying to get any likeness. Looking forward to seeing your next one. This is a very good self portrait which you should be pleased with and rather proud of yourself for painting it!.

What a great picture Debs - can't say if this a good likeness (although I suspect it is) but all i can say is it's good this isn't a dating website !!

Good painting. Good colours. Oh dear. I will have to do one now.

Thanks everyone for your very kind comments!Yes Ros it's suprising once you've done one you want another go - bit like a ride on a funfair! I agree with you Louise it is nice to get an idea of who we all are so I hope more people will take up the challenge, and names become faces. Thea I'm sorry to hear you have a bad back and hope it gets better soon so you can join 'The Rouges Gallery' and talking of Rouges - Michael when can we see your portrait?! and Gudrun you have no excuse so you really will have to do one now, look forward to seeing them all!

Nice to see you, to see you........ sorry couldn't resist. This is really good Debs and is so unmistakably in your style, a great self portrait. You threw the gauntlet down and I rose to the challenge of the rogues gallery but it's no where near as good as yours LOL

Haha Val just seen yours and it's great [that should be a line from Miranda!] Come on Gudrun ... I'm still waiting!! lol x

... I'm in the middle of another series, but SP will be a watercolour.

Wonderful Debs! very well done. This is the hairstyle I'm aiming at ;))

One of the first in the series, and I missed it at the time..... well, obviously I don't know what you really look like, but there's certainly character in this self-portrait: and an air of determined concentration. Difficult, isn't it??

Glad you liked the hair Carole - I think it's the only bit of the picture I like lol!

Thanks Robert yes it was difficult but I enjoyed seeing all the other portraits including yours.

Someone laid down a challenge for doing a self portrait so you can all blame Louise for this one! Very scarey having a good look at yourself in the mirror, even scarier when you realize you've turned into your own mother!! Would never have done a self portrait left to myself but I think I'll have another go at this one and try to improve it' [ a lot!]
