Yes, i think the remoteness is nice. A kind of cosiness to the painting.

Thank you all, I'm glad the remote bleakness comes through. Your "cosiness" comment was interesting, Anne, as I had considered painting it with a darker sky and background, and some yellow in the windows to give a cosy, evening, "someone at home" feel. In the end I decided to keep the "glow" of the white paper which I feel is the unique quality of transparent watercolour.
