Smashing composition David, love the foreground trees.

Thanks, Fiona, the view is just as it was, apart from the path, which I created. I thought the trees might compete with the red barn as a focal point so the path was made to lead the eye to the barn first. I do feel watercolour is ideal for quick impressionistic trees - a mix of wet and dry strokes, a few flicks with a rigger and a penknife - done!

Every time I've visited Southwold I've passed this view in the car several times a week. This year I made the effort to park nearby, sketch and photograph it, and paint it after returning home.
