Thick fog, West Wittering beach by David Whitehead
This sketch was done to try and recreate a mood. We walked on this beach in thick fog where we couldn’t see the horizon, or even the waterline. The challenge was to capture the mood of an empty, foggy beach in my travel sketchbook, on cartridge paper, which behaves very differently to watercolour paper for wet-in-wet or lifting out.
