You got it David, even with the wrong paper.

Thanks, Derek. Looking at it again, if I painted a "proper" watercolour from it I would add some spatter to the foreground to root the supports in the sand and strengthen the recession.

Hang on Studio Wall

This sketch was done to try and recreate a mood. We walked on this beach in thick fog where we couldn’t see the horizon, or even the waterline. The challenge was to capture the mood of an empty, foggy beach in my travel sketchbook, on cartridge paper, which behaves very differently to watercolour paper for wet-in-wet or lifting out.
