Rising Tide at Pin Mill
I've just returned from a brief visit to Pin Mill on the River Orwell in Suffolk, something I try to do at least once a year, and more often if I can. It really is a timeless place, there's always at least one Thames Barge and other types of flat-bottomed barges on the mud. This picture tries to capture the incredibly quick rising of the tide up the shallow sloping mud and slipway of the Hard. It's so quick it's impossible to paint it live so my preferred method is to take photos and then watch it from the bay window of the Butt and Oyster pub alongside.
