An unusual subject but very well painted. The sunken graves a reality in most cemeteries these days, along with the lack of flowers. I like it David, it’s part of life. Exceedingly well done.

I must say David this is a great painting! Such detail, so well done. I wouldn't have thought of this subject but it makes a good painting.

Thanks... personally I like the houses and don't think removing graves would help. I removed trees in order to see those houses and thought the 4 graves in the foreground gave a focal point with the others and the houses gaving depth...but what do I know?

My first proper landscape, I didn't realise how long it would take and I am sure I could work on it a lot longer but am kind of sick of it now. I didn't use any technique for the perspective (I might have used perspective dots etc) but I just copied what I saw from my local graveyard. Maybe it could use trying to get some texture into some of the stone and the grass/mud. it could use shadows too but it was an overcast day with no strong light

Inspired by an artist friend I came back to paint a bit at the end of 2017. At the moment I am enjoying it and maybe because I have the patience to look more than I once did I am finding it easier and more enjoyable to actually produce a likeness.
