Thanks all, with regards to your comments Sylvia I think this is cat dependent and some cats are quite fleshy as you rightly point out. This particular one the only bit of pink showing was the septum of the nose and I only hinted at that with a dot of brown and the flesh inside the ear.

Another in my sketchpad, this time a random cat in acrylic a5. At this scale I found it hard to make small enough marks for whiskers and fur and I notice having finished that I haven't got the shape of the eyes quite right and matching. It was however the quickest I have painted anything (all done inside an hour without even a cup of tea) and I quite enjoyed it :)

Inspired by an artist friend I came back to paint a bit at the end of 2017. At the moment I am enjoying it and maybe because I have the patience to look more than I once did I am finding it easier and more enjoyable to actually produce a likeness.
