Nice to see both David

Thanks Heather, its a shame the camera would not also give a sharp image of the scene as well.

A wonderful area which we have visited many times. This looks like a very promising painting David, and I look forward to seeing the finished version.

So nice to see the basic sketch and the scene David . It’s also a good example of how an artist pick a scene out of the larger landscape . The sketch is excellent and I too look forward to your finished painting.

Yes you are absolutely right Paul , i have in the past used binoculars to sketch a scene if you can`t get close enough, as in my example. I wanted the sun on the gable end of the farm.

All the makings for a great painting David. Lovely place to be.

Lovely David this vista would of definitely attracted my attention. Sketches are so valuable not just as a visual reference but for the imprint it seems to activate in your memory.

Yes you are right Barry, having sketched it once i find it is easier when putting the drawing on your paper.

Thank you everyone for your kind comments

Beautifully composed and painted David.

Watercolour 10" x 7" 30 minute Sketch. A lunchtime sketch a few days ago while on a lovely 3 hour walk on Dartmoor. Its not quite finished as windows and drystone wall needs some detail, but their is enough to do a painting. Simplifying the scene is an important element to sketching outside as its always the trap to put too much in. We were lucky as the light and shadows were in a good place. Most enjoyable day!!!
